The Bobble: one of the best inventions I think I’ve ever seen. It’s a water bottle that filters out chlorine, copper, zinc, and other various metals that you find in tap water and water fountains. It will not filter out harmful microbes of course. But it will filter out anything a Brita filter would and you just fill it and drink right from it. It’s good for as many as 300 refills and it only costs $9 and it’s only $6 for a new filter. The reason I think this is so great is because it takes about 1.85 gallons of water just to MAKE your standard 16oz water bottle. That water is then contaminated and can’t be used. And drinking tap water or water fountain water means ingesting metals and chemicals. This solves both of those problems and the water tastes just like spring water from a water bottle. #invent #invention #inventing #eco #ecofriendly #iphoneonly #4s #love #science #bobble #water #bottle #waterbottle #environment #green #bw #blackandwhite #snow
A few days ago (when it was 76F degrees out) I took a photo of a Daylily sprout coming up. It was good to see the first signs of Spring and I posted it on here. Well, it snowed yesterday and now it’s around 35F. But do plants just die when this happens? No way! Did you know that plants have 7 hormones that help them grow and ripen fruit and handle crazy weather? ’Cause they do and it’s sick nasty. In this case, the plant uses what we call “abscisic acid” to help it slow down growth so it can deal with freezing cold weather. It’s also the same hormone it uses to let its leaves fall off in the Fall. Nifty, huh? (Yeah, I’m a geek.)
